In conjunction with Sun Microsystem's J2SE 1.4.2 Java Technology End of Life (EOL) http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/, GroupLink® will no longer support any Java versions previous to Java 1.5 starting with its release of everything HelpDesk v9.0 in late 2008.
GroupLink's release of everything HelpDesk v9.0 will change the minimum server machine
system requirements to:
P4 class server or higher
Minimum of 1 GB of RAM
Minimum of 100 MB of free hard drive space
(Expandable as needed)
SMTP server capable of relaying to desired domains
J2SE JDK 1.5.x for
Windows, Linux, the application no longer supports Netware
Tomcat 5.x *
And One of the Following:
Microsoft
Windows 2000 Server Operating System or higher
Linux
RedHat Or SUSE operating system (kernel 2.4 or higher) *
Due to the fact that Novell will not support any Java version past 1.4, Netware will no longer be supported after the release of everything Helpdesk v9.0.
GroupLink's eHD™ Major Release Life Cycle
The standard EOL life cycle for all of GroupLink's major releases, such as 7.1, 8.1, and 9.0 is as follows: GroupLink will end Engineering (EOE, critical bug fixes and maintenance patches, NO Enhancements) of a major release one major release after the major release that is in question. GroupLink will completely end the support life (EOL, no longer support or maintain the product) of a major release two major releases after the major release that is in question.

GroupLink's eHD Minor Release Life Cycle
The minor releases such as 7.1.5, 8.1.1, and 9.0.1 are releases with minor enhancements and bug fixes. These minor releases will be supported during the time lines of the major releases, according to the nature of GroupLink's release series, such as the 7.1 series, the 8.1 series, and the 9.0 series.
